The end of copyright (as we know it?)

2008-03-25

Almost everybody agrees that creators should be paid fairly for the works they produce. But as Chris Anderson points out in his recent Wired article the new economic of the Internet dicate that "the moment a company's primary expenses become things based in silicon, free becomes not just an option but the inevitable destination." Do digital cultural and entertainment have real monetary value in the eyes of consumers? In what manner are they willing to pay? Do our copyright laws, particularly those that prevent personal sharing and mixing, have any real impact? Or are there new economic and legislative models we ought to embrace?

Explore the business, legal and economic issues with some of Canada's top minds.

Alan Sawyer (Principal, Two Solitudes) leads a panel with Susan Abromovitch
